I was carrying in an armload of groceries with my son on my hip when I heard a vaguely familiar voice coming from my back pocket. Apparently, I was the correct caller and won a pair of tickets to the sold out Amaryllis show later that night.
My best friend Casey convinced me to go. Nevermind the fact I barely knew who the band was and didn’t know the words to any of their songs. The last time I listened to popular music was before cartoons and nursery rhymes took over my life.
I’ve never been the type of person to be in the right place at the right time. I’d always heard stories of that happening to people and while I was happy for them, I always thought it was a stretch. That kind of thing just doesn’t happen to me.
At least, it hadn’t yet.
